Effect of Foliar Fertilization on the Antioxidant Status of Brassica Napus L.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Brassica napus L. is of outstanding importance in agricultural production due to its versatile uses. A foliar fertilization experiment with DK Exstrom rapeseed hybrid was set up in Regöly, in 1 ha plots, in a banded arrangement. Treatments were carried out at the initial flowering stage. The treatments applied as foliar fertilizers were as follows, calculated per element: Ca=3kg/ha (CaCO3); Zn=1kg/ha (ZnCO3); Zn+Ca=1kg/ ha+3kg/ha (ZnCO3 + CaCO3); C-complex (copper+zinc complex)=0.5 kg/ha copper and 0.8 kg/ha zinc. Harvesting was carried out with a combine with a yield map. Total polyphenol content (TPC) and antioxidant/ reducing capacity (FRAP) were determined spectrophotometrically from the methanolic extract of the seeds. Compared to the control, all treatments resulted in an increase in both total polyphenol content and antioxidant capacity. The best results were obtained with C-complex (copper+zinc complex).
