Butters tested by NÉBIH
In its January Szupermenta (Supermint) test, butters were inspected by the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH). In terms of food safety, all products met the requirements, however, other irregularities occurred this time as well. Authority proceedings were initiated for 11 products: because of serious quality defects in the case of four, and due to labeling problems in the case of the other seven.
Based on the offering of domestic store, 33 different products of 19 manufacturers were tested by the experts of NÉBIH, and these were analyzed under laboratory conditions, for safety and quality parameters. In terms of safety, the peroxide number was measured by the staff of the authority, an indicator of product rancidity. In this respect, there was no objectionable sample, as there were no irregularities found following the analyses to detect the vegetable oil content of the products.
