Present and future of short supply chains, possibilities of local governments
Within the framework of the Environmental Protection Month that has been organized by the French Institute in Budapest for years, this year’s international conference was held on November 13, 2014, one of the main messages of which was that almost anyone can be involved in short supply chains (SSC), because the age of separation is over: even big supermarket chains are interested in SSC now.
Sampling: a new method for producers
A riveting presentation titled Theoretical foundations and practical realization of the control of the pesticide residue and contaminant content of foods was given by scientific advisor Prof. Dr. Árpád Ambrus at the professional seminar organized by WESSLING Hungary Kft. in November. The event was attended by prominent personalities of research institutes and the food industry. The research outlined by the professor is not only important from a scientific point of view, but this method can also be used in practice, and it can even mean considerable savings to distributors and buyers. With its help, one can determine how likely it is that the product can be sold with the qualification „adequate”!
What will be on the new label? – Changes in food labeling
December 13 means a true milestone to both consumers and distributors, because it is the date when Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 regarding the labeling of foods takes effect, specfying uniform labeling requirements for all member states. In addition to simplifcation, the new regulation also raises several questions.
